Ira Siff- Klaus’ voice teacher

My main connection to Klaus is based on this tremendous irony that I told him in his voice studies that there was really no future in singing in falsetto. But then in the interim I had this idea to form an opera company in which the soprano-mezzo roles were sung by gentlemen who had tremendous falsettos. La Grand Scena became my company, and since then I have been singing in falsetto all over the world . And around 1981, I remember going to a concert in Carnegie Hall and running into Klaus, who was now Klaus Nomi in full Nomi drag. I was aching to tell him, but I was too shy to go up and say, you know you won't believe this, but... And any time you'd like to sing Delila in my company you're more than welcome.
