We all got to know each other just from hanging around. And Kristian calls me out of the blue one day and says: listen I’ve got this gig at Max’s Kansas City, and I wrote some songs for that guy Klaus, and do you want to play drums? So I sort of said yes. So we did it and really, it was a joke and we didn’t think of this as any kind of act much less a company or a corporation or a beginning of something but we just thought ok we’ll have some fun and see what happens. [By the time of the Xenon show] we had lighting and props and people bringing things up and down and slide projectors, and all that stuff had to be choreographed and cued. I remember having production meetings, and at one point realized, this is really getting complicated.
